Don't fight it...

Discovery & Overview

Intense Engagement

Warner Brothers Records approached BKWLD to launch the latest Disturbed album -Asylum and reach music fans in way that had never been done before. WBR wanted to push beyond the micro-site and myspace pages; to engage users in an intense, talked about experience.

Strategy & Concept

Choose Your Own Adventure

To introduce the new album, BKWLD created a truly disturbing digital experience based in the actual Asylum from the album. The digital experience follows a “choose-your-own-adventure” format where users are the wrongly accused and committed character portrayed in the Disturbed music videos and songs.

Content Creation

Shot & Directed In House

For the production, BKWLD directed and shot film used in the experience, handled all the post-production work, as well as concepting, designing and developing the actual interactive experience. For the audio design, we teamed up with Bongo Post for some of hair raising audio tracks.

Development

Pushing the Idea Further

The site uses social network integration (pulling in photos and friends), motion-tracking webcam interactivity, an interactive keyboard that controls a maniacal inmate and audio recognition to create a truly intense adventure.

Results

Getting Immersed

From personalized examinations to having to scream through your mic to break out, the experience found in the Disturbed Asylum is one of a kind and completely immerses the viewer in a gripping first-person perspective.

Recognition

Disturbed Asylum received numerous awards, including FWA's Site of the Day, Communication Arts' Webpick, and was selected as a One Show Finalist.
