Until recently, the best way to find quality help for home improvement projects was either to open the Yellow Pages, or to ask friends. There was no easy way for a homeowner to find reputable and certified contractors, painters and other skilled workers, and conversely, there was no easy way for a capable craftsperson to have a simple and easy site to boast about their projects and qualifications. Enter Hard Hat City - a cross between Craigslist and LinkedIn, with all the expected social network bells and whistles. The site gives homeowners an easy way to browse thousands of contractors, view photos of their work and read about their specializations and qualifications. The site also empowers contractors to create full and robust profiles, that they can then use on business cards and other identity material, helping advertise their services.

The site is built using HTML/PHP/CSS and runs on our internal BKWLD CMS that is powered by the Zend Framework. Hard City City also has the power via the CMS to certify, verify and promote certain contractors, as well as update other information on the CMS.
